In the two previous articles in this series, we told you about the personal experience we were lucky enough to have with four shining kids, their four mothers and Valérie, a psycho-practitioner and coach. We talked with them about potential, freedom, the shining sun…

In the article entitled « SHINY KIDS », we told you about the veil that was lifted on one of the greatest mysteries of our lives as parents (that’s right) and what the parents accompanying their children had learned from their discussions with Valérie. What about the kids? What did they leave with?

What the children took away from the experience:

BEING FREE IS IMPORTANT. THERE ARE NO LIMITS. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Valérie, why did you want to pass on this key to the children? »
Because it’s important that they avoid identifying with what they think they are (« good at maths », « the class joker », « a born artist – like his father… »). Why not? But it should always remain an invitation and not an order that sets out a restrictive course.”

EACH ONE OF US IS SPECIAL. WE ARE UNIQUE AND PRECIOUS. WE ALL HAVE POTENTIAL. WE ARE LIKE MUSICAL NOTES, STARS THAT GLOW, SUNS THAT SHINE.

Valérie, why did you want to pass on this key to the children? »
Adults and the education system have too much of a tendency to look at how children can adapt to what is already in place, sometimes for a long time, instead of understanding how education can adapt to the richness and originality of this new generation. It always contains a potential in the making with its share of new things, resources for the future. As long as you don’t see this, you’re missing out on a lot of opportunities for development. The metaphor would be agreeing to transform the melody to which our steps dance 😉 »

CURIOSITY IS OUR GREATEST ASSET. LET’S OBSERVE. LET’S LISTEN.

Valérie, why did you want to pass on this key to the children? « If we give too many instructions and define things too much for our little ones, we limit their ability to explore and discover with the eyes of innocence. The curiosity of the newcomer allows one to see differently and to create without any expectations whatsoever, and therefore without fear of the result. »

INSTEAD OF SAYING « YOU MUST » OR « WE MUST, » WE CAN SAY « I WANT TO. »

Valérie, why did you want to pass on this key to the children? « We live and make choices based on the idea that we have to be this way or that way, and that we have to do this or that. The question of wishing for its own sake is too often forgotten. But creative energy always comes from a leap of the heart 😉 When you stop telling the child what to do and he or she expresses all that is possible. We inspire them and show them the way. And the dream is a generator of passion, of smiles.  It’s the best gift we can give them. »

Valérie, how exactly can we express to a child all that is possible?
The simplest way is by example.

« Let’s be the change we want for our children. LET’S DARE to be different ourselves, to change our ways, play the guitar at 55, go on a world tour, rediscover the pleasure of paint pots, let’s dance, let’s take back control of our accounting with pride – whatever our knowledge or ability (« ah, accounting is all Greek to me… » well no 😉 Do you want something for your child? First, allow yourself to go beyond your own limits. You’re going to inspire them so much! And give them the most amazing confidence in life.

We’ll leave the final word to Valérie:

The sun doesn’t ask anyone’s permission to shine every morning.

A child does not shine in a room by being perfect. But by being him or herself. A child brings energy to a room or group by who he or she is and what he or she expresses as specialBy being brilliantly and perfectly him or herself among their peers.

Supporting our children to become perfectly themselves…

We don’t know how much that resonates with you, but with us, it’s a lot.

Thanks for following this series of articles on this beautiful experience with these four kids.

As a bonus gift, just for you, we are offering posters you can print, to shine on the walls of your kids’ room:
