Spending all your days in lockdown, without seeing your loved ones, can start to be difficult for everyone and especially for our kids. Especially if their birthday takes place during this period, and their special day can quickly turn into a drama. Don’t panic, we have found the best ideas for you on social media networks, to help you make this birthday an unforgettable day… even during lockdown. 😊

  • BREAKFAST IN BED

We love this simple yet effective idea. It’s a great way to kick start their birthday! While you may not normally have the time to do it, there are no more excuses now beacuse in lockdown you can laze around (a little) in bed and enjoy a good breakfast.

  • CREATE A BIRTHDAY ATMOSPHERE WITH A SPECIAL THEME

A Frozen birthday at @charlotteandfamily‘s, dinosaurs at @lalottes‘s and caravans at @Etdieucrea‘s – put up some pretty decorations based on their favourite theme.

In any case, you can always create lovely decorations with the means to hand during lockdown. We highly recommend having a look around Mini Reyveto create birthday decorations yourselves!

  • ORGANISE A TREASURE HUNT IN THE HOUSE TO FIND PRESENTS

In order to spice up opening presents and to add a little birthday activity, organise a treasure hunt, like @charlotteandfamily did. You can do this yourself or you can use brands such as Happy Kits or Quiz au trésor which have ready-made kits with lots of different themes, and all you have to do is simply pick one!

  • BAKE A BIRTHDAY CAKE TOGETHER

What would a birthday be without a birthday cake? You can make this an activity for the day by baking one together, maybe even by organising a best birthday cake competition. Everybody in the house can join in! Send photos of all the cakes or show them during the birthday video call and your family and friends can pick the winner. Of course, don’t say who made each cake! Otherwise we know that granny will pick her grand kids, right?! 😛

  • CHOREOGRAPH A BIRTHDAY DANCE AS A FAMILY

What better way to spend quality time together than  choreographing a dance as a family? Turn on the music and you’re off! Everyone can start wiggling their hips on the dance floor… in the living room!

If you’re lacking inspiration, check out the Tiktok app! It is packed with dance ideas and challenges of all types! Anyway, we’re sure you must have heard of this app already by now and that you probably know it inside out. In fact, here we explain why teens and kids love it so much:

  • A VIDEO CALL WITH FRIENDS

No birthday is complete without guests! So invite all your friends and family at the same time for a video call and play a game online or some drinks together.

Why not even ask your kid to make some nice invitations and send them as a photo or by email to their friends? « I would like to invite you to my birthday on the 14th April at 3 p.m., via messenger for a video call. Don’t forget to dress up! » »

  • A VIDEO MONTAGE OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Make a beautiful video montage to show your kid on their birthday. A few days before, ask their friends and family to make a little video, either about a topic you have set or just a little message saying whatever they like.

Here are some easy tips for creating a nice montage:

Choose a format (portrait or landscape) and ask the relevant people to all film in the same way.

Give them an approximate length (so that you don’t end up with a 2-hour long video).

Choose a common theme and ask everyone to film with this in mind so you get a consistent look. For example: everyone films with a filter, each of them pretends to catch a ball of paper where their message is written and they throw it on to the next person (this gives the impression in the final montage that the paper ball is the same throughout the video)…

  • A PERSONALISED VIDEO CALL WITH A PRINCESS

What better way to finish the day on a high than by getting a video call from a real princess?I don’t think we need to say that you would be considered the best parents in the wooooorld if your kid totally loves princesses!

This idea was inspired by @charlotteandfamily after their little girl Romy got the chance to do a video call with Anna from Frozen. How? Thanks to @dream.event.paris, which is currently offering a dream video chat with a princess from 5 p.m. onwards! Further details can be found on their website.

  • CAPTURE THIS SPECIAL BIRTHDAY WITH A PHOTO

Of course, don’t forget to capture this unique birthday with a photo, so you can look back on it in a few years’ time. 😉 You can do a little photoshoot like @frenchmomesdid for her little girl Ava.
